Whenever I am asked about how I got my start in photography, I tell them the story of how I got my first camera. My mother asked my stepfather for a nice camera so she could take pictures of the family. Well....he came home with a professional quality camera that she had no idea how to use. So after about (a year) of the camera sitting in the closet collecting dust, I asked her if I could borrow it. Ten years later, I still haven't returned the camera and she's been regretting it ever since–or so she says.
Photography became more than just a hobby for me, it became my passion. I take my camera with me almost everywhere I go.
My passion is capturing moments. Whether they are important to me, or important to someone else. If my photos can make someone smile, or recall a particular time in their life, I accomplished what I set out to do and I'm happy.
As for my approach or style? I wouldn't say I have one particular style. I don't want to confine myself to one way of looking at things. I enjoy capturing all moments, whether it is the beauty in a single flower or a majestic mountain range, the excitement of a sailboat racing down the course, or the peacefulness of a sunset over the water, the laughter in the faces of my friends or the love in the moments with my family. It's about the moment.
